July 1, 2008 – 4:56 pmThe pt segway scooter is actually designed to be used on pedestrian areas, sidewalks as well as city streets and bicycle lanes, of course according to the local laws. The segway footprint is half a square meter or for you Westerners 4 square feet.
Many disables use the segway scooter to enhance their mobility. Using a Pt segway scooter instead of a traditional wheelchair or ibot allows them very easy travel around some of the roughest parts of the city, all the while they can interact with other people and segway scooter users socially. The disableds use of the segway has been supported by a thing called the segseat, which adds a seat to the pt segway scooter, for users who have limited use of their legs or that cannot stand for long periods of time. THe segways, howerver, cannot be marketed in the US as a medical device, Johnson & Johnson claim exclusive rights to medical uses of the balancing technology found within the pt and the ibot.
It is used in some action theme parks by both employees and visitors. Alot of companies are known to organize guided group tours on Segway scooter PTs in the USA, France, and other countries. Certain organizations have run pilot tests on the Segway business use, police departments, office buildings, warehouses, and even the occasional segway speed racer.s
The Segway has also been used as a platform for the movie camera tracking shots in the film Hot Fuzz. A model of the Segway exists in various 3D robot simulators, such as in the Player Project. It is also popular in the robotics community, and has been used for various purposes such as object retrieval.
